GCWSC members pay a joining fee of $500 and an annual fee of $450 for a
single and $600 for a family. This gives members access to a Malibu Response LX to use on a private lake
with a slalom course and jump. The boats fuel tank has been removed and in its place fits 4 X 20 litre
outboard type fuel containers with a quick release coupling and each
member is issued with a container with their name written on the top. Members bring their own fuel in their container and when they ski, the fuel
line is on their container and when they have finished their set the fuel
line is connected to the next skiers container. Members do need a tow vehicle as GCWSC has its own tow vehicle to transport
the boat from the storage area which is approx 800 metres from the lake. The annual fee covers all the expenses for the boat, tow vehicle, and the
upkeep of the site. The boat is booked out to 4 members at a time for a 2 hour session in which
they will have time for 2-3 skis each and possibly more if the next
session is not booked. This system is a great way to ski compared to owning a boat which will cost
approx $1,000 per year just for registration and insurance plus you then
have the purchase cost and ongoing repairs, servicing, and depreciation.
